probably the most well-known of all the hopi kachinas, koyemsi (or mud-head) usually appears in almost every hopi ceremony as a myriad of colorful roles, such as a clown, interlocutor, announcer of dances, or drummer. he is usually the one that plays amusing games with the audience to the accompaniment of rollicking tunes he then awards his game participants with food or clothing. continually bringing such fun and frolic to his audience has made koyemsi one of the most-liked kachinas. created with colored ink on paper.
